Photos I took that day…

Jaqueline hired me to create a film that she could use as a banner on her web page but also show to potential collaborators, galleries, and art grant coordinators. I also took a few photos to show her beautiful studio, right next to her house in Wollongong, a city 80km south of Sydney. I wish I had taken a few photos of the house itself. Jaq has the talent of an interior designer and her house is stunning. I particularly loved the kitchen with its huge cookbook collection and access to a leafy terrace walled by travellers palms and exotic vegetation (to my Parisian eye).

Every morning, Jaq walks from her divine breakfast spot to her studio where she has designed special shelving to store her paints and previous work. Sitting at her desk, covered in a sheet of glass, she sketches on paper a vast array of Australian botanicals. A skylight lets natural light poor in on the delightfully colourful landscapes.

Jaq has a profound love for nature and spends her days, in the artists’ heaven, representing it, brush stroke after brush stroke. It was a joy to learn more about her in the interview below. From her life in South Africa to her nest in Australia.
